Along with the different events we host each month we have some ongoing programs you may join anytime as well.
Aimed at preschool children, the Library presents 'Story Time' every Wednesday at 10:30am. Join us for stories, songs and crafts. Call at 376-8738 or just stop by!
Lap Sit Storytime
A storytime for the little ones! Bring your babies from 6 months to 2 years old and join us Wednesdays at 10:00am for stories, songs and finger play.
Each year, the Summer Reading Program (SRP) at the McCreary County Public Library has a fun adventure-related theme to encourage participation of young readers. The program starts on the first weekday after the July 4th holiday and usually runs for five weeks. Summer Reading is packed full of activities for kids of all ages.
The only admission to all these activities is to register for the Summer Reading Program. When kids read ten books—ten books of their choice—they are eligible for prizes and an end of program party. Programs include: Story-time on Wednesdays, Teen/Tween Gaming on Thursday evenings and Fun Fridays. Many entertainers come to the library to add to the festivities.
A child is never too young to participate. The library has a “Read to Me Program” for pre-schoolers. A parent, caregiver, or an older sibling can read aloud to the child. Patrons who are unable to attend the programs or get to the library can still participate in the Summer Reading Program through the McCreary County Public Library Bookmobile.
Information on the Summer Reading Program is available in May. Check back for a calendar of events and more information.
