MCPL Library Staff Head to Frankfort to Advocate for the Dolly Parton Imagination Library
McCreary County Public Library Director Grady Wilson and Youth Services Librarian went to the Kentucky Capitol in Frankfort on Tuesday March 17th to speak with legislators and advocate for state funding for the Dolly Parton Imagination Library. Two of our School Readiness Story-time families attended with Grady and Holly to show legislators first hand who the books are supporting.

We are beyond excited to announce that we are officially #1 in the state of Kentucky for the Dolly Parton Imagination Library. This is based on percentage of overall enrollment of children under the age of 5.

Some of the McCreary County Public Library staff attended the 2026 Kentucky Public Library Association Conference in Somerset, KY, this week. Attending the conference was made possible through funding from the 2026 Conferences Grant from the Kentucky Department for Libraries and Archives and the Institute of Museum and Library Services. MCPL Receives Grant from the Lake Area Foundation!
The Lake Area Foundation, Inc. presented a $1,500 grant award from the Lake Cumberland Area Development Fund’s Fall 2025 grant cycle to the McCreary County Public Library for their Comfort Cabinet project. MCPL plans to purchase cabinets to place in the library’s public restrooms and stock them with personal hygiene items for the public to use as needed. In January 2022, we began offering yoga classes at the McCreary County Public Library. Initial funding for the program came from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) Grant through the Institute of Museum and Library Services and the Kentucky Department for Libraries and Archives.
